The Red Hen Project Receives £1,500 from the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon Community Fund

October 14, 2025
The TTP Cambridge Half Marathon Community Fund has proudly awarded The Red Hen Project a grant of £1,500 to support its vital work with families in North Cambridge.
As a small, local charity, this funding has a significant impact, helping The Red Hen Project to continue to expand its family support sessions for those facing challenges such as economic hardship, poor physical or mental health, social isolation, and disrupted engagement with education. The donation is already making a meaningful difference on the ground.
About The Red Hen Project
Founded in 1998, The Red Hen Project is a hyper-local Cambridge charity that works directly with families to raise happy, healthy, and independent children. The organisation empowers families through confident parenting, stronger relationships with schools and services, and opportunities to connect within their community.
Their work includes:
• One-to-one and whole-family support to improve wellbeing and relationships
• Drop-in groups and courses offering advice, connection, and encouragement
• School holiday activities and trips that create positive shared experiences
• Practical help in times of crisis, and support to prevent future difficulties
• Opportunities for parents and carers to engage actively in community life
The Red Hen Project supports children up to the age of 12 and their families across North Cambridge, focusing on improving wellbeing and building stronger, more resilient communities.
How the Community Fund Donation Is Making a Difference
The £1,500 grant is helping The Red Hen Project continue two of its much-loved programmes that support physical and emotional wellbeing for local children and their families:
- Active Together
After school, children and parents take part in movement-based activities designed to help with emotional regulation, confidence-building, and connection. Sessions include sensory circuits, games, and creative play that bring families together in a calm, supportive environment.
During the warmer months, ‘Wild in the Park’ takes these activities outdoors; with nature-based play, scavenger hunts, sack races, obstacle courses, and other fun games designed to get families moving, laughing, and making memories in local green spaces.

- Wellbeing Wednesdays
This weekly drop-in provides a friendly, informal space for parents and carers to focus on their mental and physical wellbeing. Sessions range from calming activities such as gardening and crafts to energising ones like boxing, yoga, and pound drumming. The programme also includes visits from local experts, including a dietician and the charity Sew Positive, which runs creative sewing workshops.
For many, Wellbeing Wednesdays offer something invaluable, a space to feel heard, reset, and build confidence as part of a supportive community.
Free and Open to All
All Red Hen sessions are free and open to families in North Cambridge, helping children and parents build resilience, boost wellbeing, and strengthen their connection to the community.
