Our amazing volunteers are core to the success of the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon. Volunteering is a great way to enjoy the race atmosphere while supporting thousands of runners to achieve their goals and raise money for charity. Whether you’ve volunteered with us before or this is your first event, we’d love to have you on the team.

We provide a thank you package which includes an exclusive Volunteer top, gift and event bag, as well as food, drinks and access to our Volunteers Marquee on Midsummer Common. We offer bike storage across the weekend, and Sunday volunteers can use our special event Park & Ride service.

Shifts will soon be available on Rosterfy – our online platform for organising the volunteering team. We’ve got a variety of roles lined up across the event weekend, so whether you want to help with set-up or support runners out on the course, there’ll be something for you.

In the meantime, you can create your Rosterfy account now, and we’ll be in touch as soon as shifts go live. You’ll receive all the information you need in advance, and on the day, our friendly and experienced Crew will be there to support you.

Volunteer FAQs

2026 TTP Cambridge Half Marathon

Volunteering at the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon is a great way to be part of the event’s excitement. It’s rewarding, fun, and many volunteers return year after year to cheer on thousands of runners through Cambridge’s historic streets.

How do I volunteer?

We use a system called Rosterfy to coordinate volunteers. Create an account and then log in to choose your preferred shift.

Once you’ve applied, you’ll receive a basic confirmation email, then we’ll be in touch closer to race day with more details.

When are volunteers needed?

Most roles take place on Sunday 8 March, from early morning to early afternoon. We also need help on Friday and Saturday for runner pack collection and event setup.
Please do commit to the full shift — with such a large team, it’s hard to manage individual requests or changes on the day.

Do I need experience?

Volunteers come from all backgrounds – many are not runners, they just enjoy being involved!  You don’t need to have previous experience – we will give you all the information and support you need.

You will need to be happy working in the following conditions:

  • Being on your feet for long periods
  • Being in a lively, noisy environment
  • Being exposed to the elements (could be rain, could be sun!)
What roles are available?

There’s something for everyone! If you’re unsure which role suits you or have accessibility needs, contact us and we’ll help.

  • Course Marshals: A great way to see the action, you’ll be directing and cheering runners around the course.
  • Start/Finish Team:  Get runners to the start line on time and help them celebrate and recover when they come back through the Finish Funnel.
  • Bag Stores: A great role if you’re organised and energetic, Bag Stores is critical to ensuring runners stay warm, relaxed and have fun from start to finish.
  • Park & Ride Team: An early shift, ideal for Cambridge locals – you’ll welcome runners from buses and guide them to the event. Some roles also assist as course marshals later.
  • Set-Up Team (Fri/Sat): See behind the scenes by helping prepare the site for race day.
  • Enquiries & Pack Collection (Fri/Sat): Help runners collect packs and answer event questions.
  • Volunteer Support: Look after fellow volunteers and  make sure everyone’s in place (and has tea and biscuits!).
Where do you need volunteers?

Volunteer roles are based on Midsummer Common apart from Course Marshals who are around the race route, which is split into Zones A-K (details below). You need to arrange your own travel to and from your shift location - meeting points and times are listed in Rosterfy.

How do I get to my shift?

You need to arrange your own travel - please check the meeting point location and time for your chosen shift fits with your travel plans.  Ways to travel include:

  • Walking
  • Bike – we have a secure Bike compound on Midsummer Common (remember your lock) or Course Marshalls can simply secure their bike nearby to their shift location, as you normally would.
  • Event day Park & Ride service (Sunday Only) – volunteers can claim a free ticket for this race day service, which operates earlier than normal. Please request this via your Rosterfy account by 25 Feb.

Park & Ride sites are based around the City Centre, the first buses start leaving the parking sites at 07:00 and the journey typically takes 15-20 mins.  All buses drop and pick up close to Midsummer Common.

The previous table indicates the walk time from Midsummer Common to various Course Marshall Zones.  Please note that Zone G is not suitable and Zones F & H are not recommended if you intend to use Park & Ride.

  • Public transport – some public transport operations may be affected by road closures, so please check with your provider in advance

We encourage you to not drive but if you do, there is no parking at Midsummer Common (sorry but this includes disabled parking - the course route makes the event site inaccessible other than for emergency services).  There may also be traffic restrictions – more details will be on our website nearer the event date.

Can groups or friends volunteer together?

Absolutely!  Clubs and community groups bring a fantastic energy to our team-based roles like Bag Stores or Drink Stations.  If you can bring 10 or more people, please get in touch to discuss opportunities - volunteers.events@teamwass.com

Friends & family can apply for the same shift with multiple openings; we’ll do our best to keep you together as much as we can but ask you to be flexible.

Can children volunteer?

Yes! It’s great to see families involved.  Children need to be 8+ years and accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times.  Roles on Midsummer Common such as Bag Stores or giving out Finisher Bags and Tees make good opportunities for younger volunteers to join in.  For safety reasons, we don’t allow children to volunteer in Course Marshall roles or on the actual Finish Line.

Rosterfy accounts are for 16+, so please email volunteers.events@teamwass.com for a separate form for under-16s.

What support will I get?

We’ll send full details and training in the 2 weeks before the event. On the day, your Team Leader from our friendly and experience Crew will brief you and be on hand for support.

What do volunteers receive?

As a thank you, all volunteers who are checked in by their Team Leader will receive:

  • Volunteer jacket
  • Volunteer Gift
  • Event goody bag
  • Half-price, guaranteed place for a standard entry for the 2027 event
  • Food and drink on the day*

You can also claim your free Park & Ride ticket (Sunday Event Service only) – remember to request this via Rosterfy by 25 Feb.

*We provide brown bag lunches, each team is given a choice of fillings and flavours so everyone can pick something they like.  We aim to cover most basic dietary requirements (e.g. vegan, gluten free) – but if you have a serious food allergy or need, please bring your own food, as we cannot guarantee that products will be free of cross contamination.

Still have questions?

Email volunteers.events@teamwass.com and we’ll be happy to help.
